The Savannah R3 School District is proud to welcome five School Resource Officers (SROs) to our schools this year—a first in our district’s history. This initiative was made possible through funding from the Andrew County Sheriff's Department, with support from the Andrew County Commissioners and the citizens of Andrew County who approved the SRO tax.

“We are incredibly grateful to the Andrew County community for investing in the safety and well-being of our students and staff,” said Superintendent Dr. Brian Hansen. “These dedicated deputies will do more than protect—they’ll become trusted members of each school community.”

The following deputies will be serving as SROs:

  • Deputy Ricky Brooks – Amazonia and John Glenn Elementary

  • Deputy Sean Tate – Savannah Middle School

  • Deputy Stephanie Resler – Avenue City and Helena Elementary

  • Deputy Kyra Rudel – Minnie Cline Elementary and the Early Learning Center

  • Deputy Trevor Phillips – Savannah High School

In addition to providing security, these officers will work closely with school administrators, build relationships with students, and serve as positive role models within our school communities.

“We couldn’t be more excited to welcome these SROs into the SR3 family,” said Communications Director Jess Gillett. “Their presence helps reinforce our commitment to creating safe and supportive learning environments.”

Andrew County Sheriff Grant Gillett shared his thoughts on the new program:
“This has been a goal of mine for years. Our schools are the heart of our community, and these deputies are committed to being a visible, supportive presence every day. I’m proud of the partnership we’ve built and grateful to the citizens who made it possible.”

The district looks forward to introducing each SRO individually throughout the school year and sharing more about the impact they’re making in our schools. They will be officially welcomed into the SR3 family during the District Welcome Back Rally on August 13th.
