Golf

The Savannah High School 2020-2021 Golf season has begun. They have had a couple of matches and also have had their first tournament, held April 5 at Fairview in St. Joseph, MO. They took their junior varsity team and their varsity team to compete.

Overall, as a team, junior varsity placed second and varsity placed third. They have been practicing very hard as a team and individually. They had five medal winners. Junior varsity medalists were Eli Mcfadden, senior, placing second; Beau Stallard, junior, placing fourth; and Ben Gould, junior, placing fifth. Varsity medalists were Zac Vega, senior, placing ninth and Ethan Cook, senior, placing tenth.

They are learning a lot this season and their coach, Mr. Brant Melvin, is there to encourage them and to help them the rest of the season.

“Melvin has taught me the importance of my short game. He has also taught me the importance of working as a team,” Vega said.

All of the players are thankful to be able to play and are looking forward to the rest of their season. Savannah High School congratulates everyone who competed and wishes them good luck on the rest of their season.
