FCCLA state

FCCLA has once again brought the gold to SHS with their big accomplishments. Five fantastic young ladies all placed gold in State STAR Events this year.

STAR Events is a competition where students show their skills by completing a project such as creating a meal plan or creating a business. With this project comes lots of work; they have to write and present a speech in front of a panel of judges. Then the judges give them a score based on how they administered their project.

Five ladies made it to State and qualified for the National Competition. Juniors Khia Haley and Madi Kessler competed in Sports Nutrition and received Gold and were the top scorers in their category. Sophomores Brooklynne Meade and Natalie Whipple competed in Entrepreneurship and received Gold and were the top scorers in their category. Junior Nadia Watkins competed in Career Investigation and received Gold as well.

“The STAR Event competitors did such an amazing job! They were able to complete their STAR Events during a difficult school year with enthusiasm. Their hard work and effort was displayed in their gold medals,” FCCLA adviser Ms. Rachel Livesay said.

The girls did an excellent job showing their skills and putting in the time. They did experience some difficulty getting used to presenting in front of a camera but they all did an excellent job. Unfortunately, they will not be making the trip to Tennessee this year for Nationals, but the girls were all very honored to be nominated.

From Savannah High, congratulations to all the girls. We can't wait to see what you do next year!
