Substitute teachers are a vital part of the Savannah School District and we value the contributions they make. It is their involvement and availability that enables our programs to continue. SR3 works with Penmac Staffing to employ substitute teachers to assist in the absence of regular classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, school nurses, and building secretaries. Custodial and Food Service Substitutes are employed through the district. Anyone interested in applying should see our current openings page.

Pay Schedule: The current substitute pay rate is $115.00 per day. A long-term substitute teacher for a certified teacher will receive an increase in pay to $153.00 on the 11th day after substituting ten consecutive days for the same teacher. Long-term pay increase does not apply when substituting for non-certified personnel.

Requirements: To be a substitute, you must have at least 60 college credit hours, have a substitute certificate from DESE and attend substitute teaching training through Penmac Staffing.
