Savannah R-III School District is proud to announce the official ribbon cutting and grand opening of the brand new Performing Arts Center (PAC) at Savannah High School. The ceremony will take place on Friday, May 2, outside the PAC’s main entrance, with a short program beginning at 5:00 PM.
This state-of-the-art facility is a major milestone for the district, marking the first time Savannah High School students will have access to a dedicated theater space. In addition to a full performance stage, the PAC features upgraded classroom environments for band, choir, theater, and speech and debate—expanding opportunities not only for performance but also for technical learning in sound and stage lighting.
The new PAC is part of a larger, yearlong renovation project at the high school that has transformed much of the building. Upgrades include:
A new corridor to improve traffic flow
Renovated parking lots
A brand-new auxiliary gymnasium
ADA-compliant bleachers in the main gym
Updated Agricultural and Shop spaces
New classrooms for art, theater, speech & debate, band, and choir—including specialized storage areas
Following the ribbon cutting, Lehr Construction—the project lead—will provide refreshments in the PAC lobby. Lehr has been an exceptional partner in this project, and many of the crew members who worked on the renovations are SR3 alumni themselves.
Guests will be invited to explore select new areas during the open house, including the theater classroom, speech and debate room, and band and choir spaces. Other parts of the building, including the gym and ag areas, will remain closed during this event. The open house will conclude at 6:30 PM, ahead of the Savannah High School Theater Department’s spring play, Radium Girls, which begins at 7:00 PM.
Tickets for the performance will be available at the door for $10 general admission and $7 for students with ID (cash only). Guests not attending the performance will be asked to exit the building at the conclusion of the open house.
All PAC entrance areas and the adjacent parking lot are fully ADA accessible. For more information, contact communications@savannahr3.com.
This event is a celebration of not only new spaces but of new opportunities—and we’re thrilled to share it with our community.
