Savannah R-III Mascot Design Contest 

The Savannah R-III School District is looking for a new mascot
With school spirit and community pride in mind, Savannah R-III (SR3) announces a contest to design a new district mascot/logo.  The new mascot design may be used on the SR3 website, social media sites, posters, apparel, promotional items, or anywhere else SR3 chooses.  The newly designed SR3 mascot will unify and embody our school spirit and serve as a public symbol of loyalty.  
Official Contest Rules and Procedures
This document describes the official rules of the Savannah R-III Mascot Design Contest organized by the SR3 Board of Education. The object of this contest is to design a mascot that symbolizes the District, and its community, geography, and values to foster SR3 spirit and pride. 
By entering, participants agree to be bound by these contest rules.  Violating any rule or not following instructions may eliminate participants’ eligibility.  SR3 has the right to disqualify any entrant at any time at its sole discretion.  
Eligibility 
  1. Current students, faculty, alumni, and SR3 community members are eligible to compete. 
  2. Contestants are allowed to work in groups.  
Submission Guidelines and How to Enter
  1. The contest is open from August 30, 2021, through noon October 22, 2021.  Late submissions will not be considered.  
  2. Design entries may be submitted electronically by completing the SR3 Mascot Design Contest Entry Form found at https://forms.gle/KKTyFZxWdW5QEjMM6. There will be a field on the form that will allow you to upload your design. Once the submission is complete, you will receive a confirmation e-mail.  Incomplete forms will not be accepted. Design entries may also be mailed to or dropped off during business hours at the Savannah R-III District Office, 408 West Market St., Savannah, MO 64485.  
  3. Multiple submissions are allowed, but each design must be submitted individually.
  4. Entries must follow the contest guidelines. 
  5. There is no fee to enter the contest. 
Design Guidelines
  1. The mascot design should reflect the values of SR3.  This includes promoting the general spirit of SR3, encouraging inclusion and sportsmanship.  
  2. The mascot design may incorporate the SR3 name (abbreviated or spelled out) but this is not a requirement.
  3. Mascot artwork/ design must be original work only and should not be copied from others or violate the intellectual property rights of any other person or entity.  
  4. Mascot artwork/ design may be created in any medium, including but not limited to, pen, pencil, charcoal, vector-based, watercolor, etc. 
  5. Any nudity (implied or actual), drug paraphernalia, or other non-family-friendly content in submissions will be grounds for the removal of those images from the contest.  SR3 reserves the right to remove any submission it deems inappropriate.  
  6. Mascot artwork/ design should utilize SR3 school colors: black & gold. 
  7. Submissions should not be discriminatory to certain people groups or cultures.
  8. Mascot designs must be easy to use, handle, resize, and manipulate for all reproduction purposes.  It should be visually appealing on small (as small as ½ inch x ½ inch) and large scales. 
Additional Guidelines
  1. Entrant may NOT post their submissions on public sharing websites, such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, DeviantArt, Tumblr, etc. until an official winner has been announced on the SR3 website.  Violators will be disqualified from the contest. 
  2. If an entrant is found to be harassing or threatening a fellow entrant, be it online or elsewhere, the entrant responsible for the harassment or threats will be disqualified from the contest.  
Regulations
  • Submissions become the sole property of SR3 and may be used for any SR3 purposes including, but not limited to display on websites, business cards, letterhead, posters, and other materials. 
  • SR3 shall have the right to adapt, edit, modify, or otherwise use the winning submission in part or its entirety in whatever manner it deems appropriate. 
  • SR3 reserves the right to choose not to use the winning entry. 
  • SR3 reserves the right to use any other entry for promotional purposes in the future.  
  • The mascot design challenge begins August 30, 2021, and runs through noon October 22, 2021.  Late submissions will not be considered.  
  • All design entries that do not follow the mascot design guidelines and/or are incomplete will be disqualified.
Judging
  1. All submissions will undergo a blind review—without name or position. 
  2. Submissions will be judged on creativity and artistic quality, as well as how well they represent the District and encourage school spirit. The ease of reproduction on various media may also be considered.  
  3. Submissions that best embody the spirit of SR3 will be presented to the student body and community members for online voting. 
  4. The winning entry will be selected by the Board of Education at the January 2022 Board Meeting.  Their decision will be final, and no further correspondence shall be entered into.  
  5. SR3 shall have the sole discretion to select the winning design based on this and other criteria that it feels, in its sole discretion, appropriate. 
The artist with the winning design will be initially credited for their work on the District website, as well as various communications channels (social media, press releases, school's website, athletics website, etc.) used by SR3.  Not all uses of the design by the District will carry attribution.
Upon notification of the winning design, the selected artist will be invited to work collaboratively with the Office of Communications to refine the design and prepare it for use in publications, the website, and other communications channels. The winning design, as it may be altered, also becomes the exclusive and perpetual property of the Savannah R3 School District.
